Travel Theme: SCULPTURE

Perhaps this is one of my favorite themes! I like the variety of artwork involved here — from the traditional to the modern ones. I particularly love outdoor sculptures. 🙂

First of which is the faces of the Bayon. I visited the Angkor Complex in 2009, beginning with the Angkor Wat, then followed by this temple. This is the most fascinating of all the ruins I’ve been to. Sorry, Borobudur. This still remains as my favorite.

Next, I like the Bean in Millennium Park in Chicago. It’s always fun to look at your distorted face on it. 😛

Here are other sculptures I found while in the United States which interested me (apart from those in the Met, of course.) There’s the bust sculpture of Benjamin Franklin covered in keys, and Phillie Phanatic!

Lastly, I love the modern art in Beijing’s 798 Art Zone. If you are going to Beijing, don’t miss this place! You’d see a ton of sculptures, paintings and other modern forms of artwork, as well as the creation of art itself!

As I said, I really like this theme a lot! For other great renditions on this week’s theme, visit Ailsa’s blog here.

Happy travels! 🙂
