I woke up early Friday last week to prepare going to work. My job usually requires me to be in the office by 10 in the morning, yet on that day, we were given the option to work early. Sleepily, I made my way through the usually long line for the train and headed to the office. The floor was silent when I arrived. At the pantry, the television showed the typhoon here in the Philippines. I was dreading for the heavy rains that was to hit the country, only thinking of the inconvenience of commuting. Little did I know how horrible the storm hit the other parts of the country.
It has been more than a week since the tragic disaster of Typhoon Yolanda, also known as Haiyan, struck our country. I’ve seen so many videos of people pleading for help, status of people complaining how inefficient the government works, and words of encouragement for all those who care. As I write this post, my goal is simple: to thank everyone who helped, who cared, who prayed for the safety of those who were badly hit by the storm.
Millions of pesos have been donated. Relief goods are coming from all over the world. So are volunteers. From a nation who desperately needs your help, thank you. You have touched our lives in ways I could never imagine. I know that this two words might never be enough, but from the bottom of our hearts, thank you. You make us believe in the goodness of humanity. Thank you. We will never forget the kindness that you have showered on us.
Maraming, maraming salamat po.
May God bless us all.
Glad some help is finally reaching those who need it so desperately. Looks and sounds just devastating.
Your post of gratitude is lovely.
Thank you, Ruth. God bless!
